EWMC Solano County Chapter

EWMC Solano County Chapter

Founded in 2013, the EWMC Solano County Chapter was built on a vision of equity, solidarity, and service — proudly rooted in IBEW Local 1245 and the national EWMC legacy. Our chapter was born out of a simple truth: when workers come together, we create lasting change not only in our union, but in our communities.

From our earliest days, the Solano County Chapter has led with action. We’ve organized mentorship programs to guide new members, supported leadership development across all levels of the union, and worked hand-in-hand with local organizations to serve families in need.

Our Local Impact

Over the years, we’ve grown into a movement that uplifts both workers and the community:

  • Organizing & Outreach: Strengthening union power through education and action.
  • Mentorship: Guiding new members as they navigate and thrive in union life.
  • Community Service: Supporting families through backpack drives, school supply donations, food distributions, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Leadership Development: Sponsoring delegates to conferences and preparing the next generation of leaders.
  • Advocacy: Partnering with civic and human rights organizations to push back against inequities and build a more just workplace and society.

Our Legacy & Connection

While our chapter stands on its own achievements, we are part of something larger. The EWMC was founded nationally in 1974 during the IBEW’s first Black Caucus, and today every chapter continues that fight for fairness, representation, and opportunity. By carrying out this mission locally, the Solano County Chapter helps ensure that workers in our area are not only represented — but empowered.
